Goody Goody was a studio endeavor by Salsoul’s Vincent Montana Jr. for Philly Sound Works records in 1978. He put together Goody Goody as a one off band featuring his songs as well as his eldest daughter Denise as the lead vocalist on all tracks. The instrumentation and production was second to none for the era and I love the whole record. It can get a little cheeseball at points but it is always welcome on a set of headphones over here at headquarters. I’m posting “Super Jock” mostly because I believe there is a great DJ edit hidden within this track but I can’t quite find it yet. I’ll keep you posted. Enjoy.

当初よりU-zhaanは「energy flow – rework」にラップを乗せる構想を持っていたが、番組企画でそのバージョンを4人で初披露。「flow」ならぬ、まさかの「風呂」リリックが話題となった。

While it bears some of the musical stylings of the period – light reggae inflections that hint of Steely Dan’s ‘Haitian Divorce’ – the vocals are unmistakably Simone’s. Like many of her albums, the content is wildly uneven; Simone simply covers too much ground and there’s too little attention paid to how songs flow together.
